ITS Webinar Series

We recently hosted a four-part Interruptions to Supply (ITS) webinar series with our UK and Ireland water industry clients to showcase the development of our solutions which leverage network and time series data processes within Netbase. Our goal was to demonstrate how our clients can use Netbase to support the identification, validation, and reporting of ITS events, deliver operational alerts to mitigate impacts, and to utilise hydraulic modelling to identify monitoring points and assess the consequences of service interruptions.

The webinar series provided a valuable opportunity to engage directly with our UK and Ireland clients, better understand their ITS-related challenges, and evolve our processes in alignment with their operational needs and regulatory approaches.

Webinar Series Overview

Session 1: Regulatory Requirements & Pressure Monitoring for ITS Events

This session introduced the key regulatory principles and technical solutions for pressure monitoring and intra-day data capture. Topics included:

• Pressure Monitoring, Reporting and Analyses Points in DMAs / Discrete Hydraulic Areas
• Location of Pressure Monitoring Points via Topographical Analysis, Pressure Logging, and Hydraulic Modelling
• Pressure Monitoring Points Configuration: Direct Monitoring or Surrogates for Pressure Data capture

Session 2: Daily ITS Event Analysis, Validation & Reporting

We focused on the daily workflows for validating and reporting ITS events, covering:

• Interactive Review & Validation of Property Minutes Events
• Year-to-Date Performance Monitoring of Events

Session 3: Intra-day Alerts & Operational Hydraulic Models

Split into two key sections, this session explored:

• Intra-day Alerts for Low Pressure & Use of Pressure Schematics
• Operational Hydraulic Models of Monitored Low Pressures

Session 4: Interactive Workshop & Feedback Session

This final session allowed for breakout discussions to gather feedback on previously presented solutions. We explored:

• Water Company Strategies for ITS Monitoring, Analysis, Validation, and Reporting
• Monitoring Points and Data Issues
• Affected Property Records
• Data for Multi-storey Blocks
• Feedback on Solutions
• Requirements for Further Development within Netbase

Our Approach to ITS Management in Netbase

Our Netbase solutions support the full lifecycle of ITS event management. Key elements include:

• Early identification and alerts, which reduce customer impact and regulatory exposure
• Coordinated operational responses, enabling faster supply restoration through our apps and tools
• Building Validated Events Data, our ITS application allows for all events to be compiled into a single repository in Netbase, from monitored pressure sites, hydraulic models and from manual review of customer contact information 
• Post-event reporting, facilitated by our ITS application to enable extracting of validated Events data for end of year reports to be prepared
