This week, several members of our team had the pleasure of attending the NWG Innovation Festival - an exciting event that brings together industry leaders, technical experts, and creative thinkers. More than just informative, the festival offers a dynamic environment where collaboration sparks practical and forward-thinking solutions to some of the water industry’s real-world challenges.
Phil Crilly participated in the Siemens sprint: “Teaching Water to Talk,” which focused on how AI can be leveraged to integrate data from sources such as leakage reports, consumption trends, asset condition monitoring, and water quality. The goal was to improve how this information is captured and interpreted, enabling faster, smarter decisions in response to changes across the water network.
Ed Rutson and Tico Kromkamp attended Qualitest’s sprint: “See It, Say It, Scan It, Send It,” which explored the emerging role of wearable technology, like Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, in transforming how field data is collected. The team examined how wearables could be used to streamline the capturing of data, increasing accuracy, reducing manual effort, and offer live remote support for fieldworkers, to truly understand where this could be applied in the water sector.
The NWG Innovation Festival is always a highlight in our calendar. It blends innovation with a fun and informal atmosphere that encourages big ideas and bold experimentation. We're excited to take the insights gained this week and continue pushing boundaries as we work towards a more sustainable, data-driven future in water management.
